Aye, there’s the rub

Ho Dean has asked his supporters to vote on whether the campaign should take public financing. (First off, how cool is it that the campaign is letting supporters make this decision!) It’s a tough question, in my mind, since we should encourage tight spending limits. And if we abide by caps, the campaign would get 18 million in matching funds. That’s a lot of money.
On the other hand, Bush is not abiding by the caps and will be able to pound away at the Democratic nominee with impunity from March to August. That’s a lot of time to set the tone of the campaign. Thoughts?
Some info on the public financing from the FEC; here’s the campaign’s summary. Either way, if you’re a Dean supporter, VOTE!
