Alone in the office at 12:15am on “Friday” night. Clearly I’m new here. We’ll see if I’m like this in a month. But I need to stay late tonight since I took last night off:
When I was younger, my Mom always dragged me to musicals; she said I needed “culture.” Well, she was right, and has taught me well, since I’m now dragging myself to “cultural events” I know I won’t enjoy.
The campaign had free tickets to last night’s community theater production of “Guys and Dolls” and I volunteered to go. Now, really I knew nothing about this show other than (1) it was a musical, and (2) TJ put it on back in HS (clearly I didn’t go). So, I asked Josh, a theater person on the campaign, what Guys and Dolls was about. He said, “A New York street hustler.” Well, that sounded promising; and through four scenes, it was pretty good. There was a plot, gambling, and (what then seemed to be) a main character. Unfortunately, a few scenes later I was asking myself, “Is this a kissing book…er, musical?”
Next time I’m paying more attention to the title, and not to Josh.
