Sunday was quite fun at the National Cherry Blossom Festival in DC. Miranda, her friend Leslie, and I worked at the Cultural Stage helping the performers load and unload their equipment via carts. We got to see a few cool performances including a traditional Japanese drum band (they make their own drums from whiskey barrels and cow hides). The sun came out around 1pm and it was a gorgeous afternoon. Also ran into another old friend from MIT there to make the day even better. After an extremely circuitous route to Potbelly’s to get some food, I headed home to watch Dream Job and state taxes.
It looks like I owe the Feds $109 and that Massachusetts owes me $10. Turns out that New Hampshire doesn’t have an income tax. I’m confused on how they pay for services…apparently the property tax is large there. And I did pay a few hundred bucks when I bought my car.
But I won’t be making any money back from the NCAA’s. Although I’m at the 78th percentile on ESPN on the men’s side and the 79th on the women’s side, I’m locked out of money in the family pool. Ah well, there’s always next year, and this enables me to root for the ACC to go all the way.
Also, I’ll be buying tickets for DC United’s debut (which will include 14-year-old phenom Freddy Adu). Let me know if you want in.
Update: Forgot about my Prius $2000 income reduction! Haha: turns out that the Gov’t now owes me $191!
