I learned a cool new Excel trick today, which–given the significant amount of time I’ve spent through the years learning Excel’s quirks–doesn’t happen very often nowadays. Turns out you can Fill “down” formalas in 3-D (i.e., between workbooks). Hrmm, it now occurs to me that maybe not too many of you would be interested. But, hey, you never know.
I think it’s really cool at least.

Well, I was hoping to be able to avoid putting actual Excel commands in my blog, but you reap what you sow I guess.
(1) Highlight your “template” formula, (2) select susequent worksheets using shift, then (3)Edit->Fill->Across Worksheets.
For real fun, look up the “Indirect” worksheet function.
