The big news is that I found a new place to live in Crystal City, VA: the building actually connects to the Crystal City underground, which is very convenient. I found the place randomly on Craig’s List, so I’ll be living with two people I didn’t know prior to Saturday (agreed to take the place on Sunday). I’ll be living with one guy and one girl; both early/mid 20s; both recent grads of Yale Internation Studies grad school; both work in the city. Should be a fun place.
Friday night I went with Beth, Matt, Gretchen, and other assorted folk to the O’s game. Did lots of logic puzzles on the car ride there. The O’s went down 9-0 after 2, came back to tie it at 9-9 in the 9th, but then proceeded to lose in the 10th. Treated to fireworks afterwards. All for a $5 “student” ticket. Oh, and Ainsworth, who gave up those 9 early runs, has been sent down to AAA. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Saturday was when I met my future roomies. While apt hunting I also looked at a place on the 20th floor of a building in VA square, with a great view of the national mall. (The Washington monument bisected the Capitol dome from the vantage point of the living room window.) But people are more important than views…right? I think I made the right choice.
Saturday night I watched the Preakness and Harry Potter. Sunday I worked. Monday evening I celebrated the confluence Sytten Mai, first US state-sanctioned gay marraige, 50 years of Brown, and the UN’s banning of the “Dirty Dozen” at yet another party thrown by Beth. I bought huge grapes for the party from the Mt Pleasant supermarket (where I was the only one not speaking Spanish).
Also on Sunday, I made and ordered the following custom bumper sticker on the web.

With all the political stickers on my car, my comp sci half was feeling left out :)
