Yesterday I took the 2.5-hour trip on route 89 to Burlington, VT to visit the national headquarters of the campaign. First, the drive is beautiful. Mountains, rivers, lakes, and the few signs of humanity incorporated smoothly into nature. Also, the trees were just starting to change color.
Add that scenery with the quaint town of Burlington, which has a much more welcoming downtown than either Boston or Manchester. The restaurant we ate lunch at had seven (!) vegetarian options. Plus, free 2-hr. lunch parking–VT socialism at it’s best. Dinner was a stop-over at a supporter’s house for a huge homemage veggie meal. What a day for food :).
Oh, right, the campaign itself. Yeah, that was pretty cool. The office was a lot less chaotic than I thought it was going to be; might have something to do with the campaign manager, Joe Trippi, not being around. The people were very nice; looked like a smoothly running campaign :).
