A non-political entry (mostly)

Yesterday we had a softball game against the “Young” Republicans of New Hampshire. Despite rotating through about twice as many players, we kept it very close. It was 14-14 going into the last inning, but they won 14-16. I made two diving catches in center, which earned me both the nickname “database” and staffer of the week honors. The Repubs were surprisingly nice, except for this one girl; she was playing first base when I got on in the 1st inning. Then she proceeded to position herself right in my path to second, so I asked here to “watch out for the basepath.” Her response was a genial, “Kiss my ass.” Needless to say, I wasn’t going to stand there and just take that; I responded with a meek “okay.” Perhaps, “now, there’s no need to get snippy,” would have been a more appropriate response.
Last night, after softball, there were four of us left in the office, and Mike put on some swing music and proceeded to show off his moves with Sarah. That left me and Maja, and we tried our luck; and though Maja had “several years of ballet to overcome” and I had “several years of social ineptness to overcome,” it didn’t turn out too badly. And by that I mean no one got seriously injured.
