What a rockin’ Halloween! The campaign threw a bash for staff and supporters, with the good Doctor in attendance. Activities included “bobbing for weapons of mass destruction” and dancing to some country music. But first, the bombastic David gave his rendition of the Gov Dean’s stump speech. At each buzz-phrase, a member of the staff would come out on stage dressed up as it. I was the “Credit card presidency.” Other costumes were “Costa Rican with Health Care,” “That turned out not to be true,” “A Child Left Behind,” and the Gov’s favorite “Ken Lay and the Boys.”

After the “speech,” another staffer, Josh, led us all in a Dean sign-a-long. Josh and the Gov were playing the melody, with the crowd signing the hilarious lyrics. Though I had an obstructed view, I heard the face on the Gov’s face during the first chorus (“They all said Dean would never win….Dean would never win, Dean would never win; They all said Dean would never win.”) was priceless.
As Dean was leaving I was lucky enough to get this:

Another Party at coworker’s (sans costumes) after the H’ween bash. But I’m not a huge fan of the drink-and-mingles, so Beth and I left to play Stratego. She took (unrequited) my Marshal (1), and my General (2), but I eeked out a victory. I’ve been on the other side of that senario and thus I’m discovering that winning hinges on taking more risks than appear prudent. Being on the cusp of defeat enabled me to engage in a “fool’s charge” that captured the flag.
